Overview

Nearby Folk is built on respect. To keep the community safe for everyone, every user, including hosts, members, and guests, must follow these guidelines. Violating them can lead to content removal, account suspension, or permanent bans.

1. Be Respectful

  • Treat every user with kindness, regardless of gender, religion, caste, region, language, sexual orientation, or any other identity.
  • No harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation, or shaming.
  • No hate speech, slurs, or discriminatory content.

2. Keep It Safe and Legal

  • No content that depicts, encourages, or facilitates illegal activity.
  • No promotion of violence, terrorism, self-harm, or suicide.
  • No sale of drugs, weapons, or other regulated items.

3. No Sexual Exploitation or Harm to Minors

  • Nearby Folk is intended for users aged 16 and above.
  • Any content involving minors in a sexual context is strictly prohibited and may be reported to authorities.
  • No sexual harassment, unsolicited explicit content, or pressuring others.
  • No nudity or pornographic content on profiles, posts, Spaces, or voice rooms.

4. Be Authentic

  • Use your real identity. No impersonation of other people, brands, or organizations.
  • One account per person. No fake or bot accounts.
  • No misrepresentation of age, gender, or location to deceive others.

5. No Spam, Scams, or Self-Promotion Abuse

  • No mass messaging, bulk friend requests, or unsolicited promotion.
  • No phishing, financial scams, or attempts to obtain personal data fraudulently.
  • No off-platform recruiting for scams, MLMs, or illegal services.

6. Privacy of Others

  • Do not share private information about other users without consent, including phone numbers, addresses, IDs, photos, or chats.
  • Do not record, screenshot, or distribute voice room audio without explicit consent from all participants.
  • Do not stalk or follow other users into the offline world without consent.

7. Voice Rooms

  • Hosts are responsible for moderating their rooms.
  • Hosts and moderators may remove disruptive participants.
  • Repeat offenders may lose voice room privileges.

8. Communities and Spaces

  • Stay on-topic and follow community-specific rules set by moderators.
  • No unrelated promotional posts or repeated low-effort spam.
  • Community moderators may remove posts and ban members at their discretion within these Guidelines.

9. Reporting

If you see something that violates these guidelines, please report it using the in-app report option on profiles, chats, voice rooms, or posts. You can also email support@nearbyfolk.com. We treat every report seriously.

10. Enforcement

Depending on severity, violations may result in a warning, content removal, feature restrictions, temporary suspension, or permanent ban. Severe violations, including content involving minors, threats of violence, or illegal activity, may result in immediate permanent bans and may be reported to law enforcement.

11. Stay Safe Offline

  • Never share your home address or financial details with strangers.
  • Meet new people only in safe, public places, and tell a trusted friend.
  • If you ever feel unsafe, block and report immediately.

These Community Guidelines are part of our Terms of Use and work together with our Privacy Policy. By using Nearby Folk, you agree to follow them and help us keep the community safe.
